Dover International Speedway, based in Dover, Delaware, is the NASCAR home to Sprint Cup Series (Dover 400, AAA 400, FedEx 400) and other Xfinity (former Nationwide) Series. FedEx 400 is known as this NASCAR race benefiting Autism Speaks.
Dover International Speedway is one of the longest tracks raced in the NASCAR season and really put drivers and their cars to the test. Since it's grueling mile makes it harder on NASCAR drivers, that's why this track's nickname is Monster Mile.
From 1969 through 1980s, 21 of the 22 Cup races at Dover International Speedway were won by drivers who either already had or would go on to win championships in NASCAR's top series.
The names of those winners are part of the fabric of the sport -- Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Benny Parsons and Darrell Waltrip. Allison and Petty rank first on the all-time winner's list at Dover International Speedway with seven victories apiece.
In 1995, the Dover track's surface was switched to concrete -- making it
the first all-concrete superspeedway in the sport. The unique look of
the white concrete surface still makes Dover's appearance unique among
the sport's bigger tracks.
Also, Dover speedway is used to traditionally host the popular music festivals like Firefly and Big Barrel Country.Browse DIS schedule information. Shop early and book online for Dover Speedway tickets.
