Update on November 2011:
U2 and Steve Bono had performed concerts at the outdoor sport stadium where NFL or MLB games were used. Their "360" tour had been so hot! All of their concert venues had been sold out!
The U2 tour, "iNNOCENCE+ eXPERIENCE" launches May 2015 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. On May 18, the Irish Rock band kicks-off the U.S. leg of the tour at SAP Center in San Jose. Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch live performances, since the U2 tour will sojourn to 19 cities for a total of 44 concerts.
At least that's how it stands currently. The grapevine is buzzing about the tour being extended for three years, to include Ireland, Asia and South America.
Concertgoers will be happy to know that Steve Bono plans to travel with his U2 crew.
As many of you know, he suffered extensive injuries from a bicycle accident in September.
The tour is in support of the group's 13th studio album, Songs of Innocence. According to Steve Bono, they will stay two nights (or more) in each city to explore concepts of innocence and experience. Again, as rumor has it, one night will consist of hard-driving electric rock and another of intimate acoustic U2 songs.
Songs of Innocence topped Rolling Stone's list of 50 best albums of the year for 2014. According to the magazine, it is a "record full of the band's stories and triumph, memory and confession detonated with adventure and poise....."
With 46 Grammy nominations under their belt, it's no easy task to select the best U2 songs. Remember these?
All I want is You – 1988 - Written by Steve Bono for Ali, his wife, the song speaks to the very essence of love. It has been said the guitar "cries" near the end.
With or Without You – 1987 – Their first #1 hit in America. The evocative song speaks to all tragic lovers whom destiny puts together, but for reasons known only to them, they can't stay together.
Mysterious Ways – 1991 – Dubbed the groups "most uninhibited pop-rock song…" Make your own interpretation. Some call it a religious song and others swear the lyrics refer to sex.
The Wanderer – 1993 – Although Bono wrote the lyrics, Johnny Cash sang lead vocals. U2 only performed the song live one time, at a concert in 2005 paying homage to Cash.
